>> F-Communications
bio: There are very few electronic labels that can pride themselves with such a clean image. It is the domain of excellence, which makes you feel that if a record comes from F Com it attributes a privilege listening to it as it one understood right from the start that it was a special disc. The choice of artists re-united in the think tank created by Eric Morand and Laurent Garnier shows that F Com is at the centre of the intelligent sounds of today.
One of the label?s slogans was ?After E comes F?, a phrase which speaks about House music and Ecstasy, the letter in all it?s simplicity is also taken from the car sticker F for France. Right from the beginning F Com decided to represent the hexagon in foreign countries where the ?French Touch? was unknown to the neurones of clubbers. Very quickly F Com, showed that practically all musical domains were within easy reach: soul techno like that established by Ludovic Navarre; ambient with a twist; Parisian garage; ?classic? house and techno ?. The names St Germain, Aurora Borealis, Nova Nova all appeared from nowhere and the label welcomed them.
The latter years have seen more artists break through the F COM system and the label drive ceaselessly for the LIVE side of electronic Music ? an idea unthought-of previously in this world. Frederic Galliano?s fusion of African beats and contemporary dance culture is an unmissable treat both live and on vinyl. The cool Jazz of Alexkid?s 2 albums and Aqua Bassino are both complemented by live performances across the world. The big selling Llorca first album, Newcomer, was accompanied by over 70 shows with a full live band. Readymade FC packs clubs out the world over with his pumping live sets as well as composing music for the Dior Homme fashion shows. Can you play Techno live ? Ask The Youngsters and Scan X ? they can ? and it?s power!
This has constantly been complemented by an inexhaustible range of classic 12? releases, albums by Scan X, A Reminiscent Drive AND Jay Alansky under his own name. The DJ Fabrice Lig recorded for F COM under the name Soul Designer. Also the series of Megasoft office compilation albums which have their own definitive fan base.
They have now been joined by new artists that carry on the passion while effortlessly bringing dance music into the mid-noughties, breaking down all barriers between genres ? the Constantin prize winning Avril, the soon-to-be-seminal Think Twice and the diverse Vista La Vie.
Laurent Garnier?s career continued to progress whilst his musical versatility grew. The album Excesses Luggages released at the end of 2003 broke yet more barriers ? 5 cds of never before released live sets from Sonar, Detroit, the groundbreaking internet radio station pedro?s broadcasting basement and also only available for sale on the net a remarkable mix of UK Radio one?s Annie Nightingale and the legendary REX club ? what a package ? there are few labels ambitious enough to put this together.
F Com?s gamble has succeeded in bringing into our lives both melody and powerful sounds. It is a success story for House. F Communications has made the transition between the early nineties well into the new millennium and has an enormous passion for music overall. For this label there are no barriers, they are the music consultants for the uberchic Hi Hotel in Nice and they set up an F COM Truc at the Palais du Tokyo modern art Museum in Paris.
2004 was a big year for F-Communications - it was the 10th anniversary. They were not making a big song and dance about it though. They were letting the music do that... They we celebrating with a series of live music fiestas across Europe kicking off with 2 sold out nights at La Cigale in Paris in April 2004 which set the store for a thrilling summer of f com celebration in the best way possible ? they were letting the music speak for itself.
