bio: Started by Fr?d?ric Galliano in 1998, Frikyiwa is a label dedicated to the promotion of West African cultures. The first two releases are collections 1 and 2, electronic remixes of traditional music from Mali. After the success of both records, Fr?d?ric Galliano pursues his research via traditional music produced in a present and relevant production : revive Western African cultures via various work frames, productions and presentation. In this perspective comes the first album of two artists : Hadja Kouyat? and Ali Bouto Santo : 100% acoustic and traditional.
Before the end of the year, Frikyiwa will also publish a record by Lipitone (Marc Challosse, live keyboard player for Laurent Garnier and Fr?d?ric Galliano) in Frikyiwa?s collection ? Nuits sur Ecoutes ?. This is an experimental and electronic production, recorded in the heart of the Malian night, which exemplifies the label?s openmindedness to various modes of expression.
