>> Colder
bio: Highly acclaimed French electronic music maverick Colder, aka Parisian graphic designer and video producer Marc NguyenTan, returns in June 2005 with the release of his stunning new album ?Heat? on Output Recordings. The debut album Colder ?Again? was heralded as one of the most accomplished releases of 2003, drawing favourable comparisons with compatriots Air and Daft Punk, as well as the timeless class of Kraftwerk, Can and Joy Division. Critical acclaim quickly followed with a string of excellent features and reviews across the world including Album of The Week in The Sunday Times, Essential Album in Mojo, Album of the Week in NME, Album of the Month in Jockeyslut, lead reviews in Rolling Stone and Les Inrocks in Nguyen's native France, Groove Magazine in Germany, the cover of Go Magazine in Spain, as well as support from US tastemaker OtherMusic, and such US publications as Rolling Stone, Tokion, XLR8R, URB, and many more. Colder's rapid ascent saw the band make their debut live performance at the famous Elyse Montmatre venue in their hometown Paris, before going on to headline the outdoor stage of Sonar by Night 2003, as well as performing at Transmusicales (Rennes), CMJ New York, Montreal Electronic Groove, Electraglyde in Tokyo, before supportiing Massive Attack at Brixton Academy, Goldfrapp at Somerset house, and European label mates The Rapture on their European tour. With the last year spent touring to support the full domestic release of 'Again' in the US and Australia, Marc started writing songs for the new album, inspired more by a sense of love and loss than the unconditional crazy love which was the inspiration behind 'Again'. The result is ?Heat?. Still unmistakably Colder, ?Heat? draws on a more diverse range of influences, with his trademark robotic digifunk evolving into a more pulsing, upbeat and varied soundtrack for life today. Methodical, but less linear, and more emotive than ever before, ?Heat?s? strength is that it doesn?t try to tap into any particular vogue. It sounds like Colder, and nothing else around today. Colder ?Heat? will be released in June 2005 on Output Recordings with the band already confirmed to play the Output Recordings Showcase in Barcelona on Sonar weekend, followed by UK performances at Glastonbury, the Wireless Festival, TDK Cross Central and many more to be confirmed soon.
