Erik M is Melpo Mene. He was born in 1982 and grew up in Stockholm, Sweden.
Inspiration and music
”I’m not sure who has influenced me, but I’ve always liked and been inspired by Kurt Kobain. Also all projects featuring Nina Ramsby have given me inspiration, so maybe these are my influences. Though mostly I’ve just been listening to music and writing stuff in my parents’ basement.”
In the studio
The album is produced and mixed by Andreas Dahlbäck (Motorhomes, Anna Ternheim, Eskju Divine, Eskobar etc), and he is also featured on all tracks. Anna Ternheim sings backing vocals on 5 of the tracks.
Why the name Melpo Mene?
”It felt natural to use a separate name for my music. Melpo Mene is taken from Greek mythology, but for me it’s basically just a nice name.”
Melpomene is the name of one of the nine muses and it’s the muse of tragedy.
