bio: Founded in 1993 by Sav Remzi, Nuphonic stays as one of the UKs more established and respected independent music companies. Revered across the world, the companys output over the years (Blue Note Club, Nuphonic Records, London Xpress, TBC Fashion, Tirk Records.) has established a reputation for quality and diversity that is now an integrated element of todays popular music culture. Our own imprint, the London Xpress radio show has featured DJs including Carl Craig, Derrick May, Norman Jay (MBE), Idjut Boys and DJ Harvey. As well as its own musical output, Nuphonic Productions runs consultancy services that cover specialised areas of music and production along with exceptional A&R direction in the release of original music, the company also provides radio and event production, cutting edge programming, artist management and agency services.
Like all Nuphonic activities, our current imprint Tirk records, continues the tradition by applying the highest level of production values at every stage. Tirks output is musically challenging and broad ranging and remains unconfined to pre-conceived notions of genre or style.
Tirk signings range from the self-professed kraut-pop of Fujiya & Miyagi, to dance music eccentric Maurice Fultons excursions into electronic punk under his Syclops moniker, to a retrospective covering the work of electro-crooner Louie Austen.
The Roster of Nuphonics DJ agency includes respected and acclaimed DJs such as Todd Terje, Greg Wilson, Maurice Fulton, Optimo and Rub n Tug.
Having released some of the most seminal soundtracks of our age under Nuphonic, (David Mancusos Loft series, Andrew Weatheralls Nine O Clock Drop, Norman Jays Good Times albums), Tirk continues with such releases from UK Electro pioneer Greg Wilson (Legends/The Hacienda) in his masterful Credit To The Edit series, and albums from kings of eclecticism the Idjut Boys and The Bees, in their own separate takes on Press Play albums.
