>> Watch TV & the Primetimes
bio: Hi everyone! I'm your best friend back in town again to get you on your dancing feet! The name Watch TV came out as a joke. But with time it roots deep into irony. Long ago, I was obsessed with Prince, until I discovered house and techno clubs. I became also obsessed with that, and I started recording house stuff for a weird label here in Madrid. I was into house and techno since i reached 24, when I recovered my funk influence, but this time knowing actually what funk is. In that time I discovered Ninja Tune and similar labels releasing that strange, captivating music. I released Evil Tunes vol. 1 (under the sub-label Evil Tunes), somehow a tribute to Ninja Tune and friends, consisting in a fake compilation of many artists who were all me (excepting 2 songs), under different alter-egos. One year later I joined up with Carlos Alcalde aka IMOM, and together we made TV People (the TV icon was recurring), we released just 1 album "The Turntable Thief" (BOA records), probably the first breakbeat album in Spain. After that came the millenium change, and the break-up with IMOM. David Lapof, future Hitop records capo, told me he wanted to make a record label of his own, and wanted me to be its first reference. That gave birth to the "After School Special", 2 (again) fake compilations of jazz/soul/funk moods, with many collaborators and a different name for each collaboration. So came up names like Headtric, Mondomo, El Gran Lapofsky or Nava (and Watch TV solo works as well). I never liked to work alone. Finally, I created Discolexia, a more personal view of modern funk/soul, and in the end of the recording process I gathered up a band, The Primetimes (a very small band), who gave the final touch to the record and who really got involved in all this. Discolexia is Funk Fun for Disco Times! Hope you like it. --------- Along all this time I also have been playing at many places. Visited the booths/ live-stages of almost every festival in Spain, like SONAR, FIB, or DOCTOR MUSIC, and many clubs around the country. Been playing at many cities: Paris, Istanbul, Koln, Gant, Lisbon or Berlin, among others. I have also done a lot fo remix work for artists like Quantic, Dublex Inc., Break Reform, Beady Belle, Wagon Cookin', Javi P3z, Gecko Turner, Soul Vigilantes, Axel Krygier (I sure forget about somebody here, sorry). ----- On the other hand, and between my works, I have been doing production for other artists. I worked for Mojo Project, Chop Suey, Shiva Sound, Nilo MC, Luz Casal or Miguel Bosé. My productions have been included in some movies, being the most remarkable my work for Chop Suey, "Humans like you", which was awarded by a (spanish) Goya Academy Award for best original song, included in Isabel Coixet's "My life without Me". The main theme of Coixet's latest film "The Secret life of Words" is also a production I did for Chop Suey, called "Codicia".--------------So, that's all folks! See you in the Dancefloor!!!
