bio: ?Ariels? is Bent?s 3rd album and as such represents a bit of a departure from their norm. Both Programmed to Love and The Everlasting Blink were largely sample based albums built on Nail and Simon?s love of second hand record stores. ?Ariels? their first album that doesn?t contain any samples is the sound of the two of them growing up!
Seeking out likeminded musicians in their hometown of Nottingham they set about writing a collection of songs instead of tracks where guitar chords replace samples as the starting point for the recordings. The result is remarkable. They have exceeded their desire to make ?an emotional album? not least in part thanks to the vocal talents of Steve Edwards, Sian from Kosheen, Rachel from Weekend Players and long time Bent cohort Katty.
With the duo having recorded the album as a band taking it to the live arena is proving no problem with a triumphant debut gig at The Big Chill Prague and a nerve jangling support slot at Orbital?s last ever London gig at The Brixton Carling Academy. The boys will be touring the album throughout the autumn starting with The UK Big Chill on at the beginning of August and a gig at Cargo in London on the 19th of August where they will be supported by Mylo.
The album is set for release on the 16th August to a loyal bent fanbase with the first single ?Comin? Back? released 2 weeks later on the 30th. This combined with a solid touring schedule being confirmed through the autumn the 2nd half of 2004 looks set to belong to Bent.
