bio: Despite considerable adversity Border Crossing's second l.p. 'Freedom of Speech' will be released on the 29th of Oct on Kartel recordings. Various forces throughout the world endeavour to restrict freedom of speech.. This l.p. stands as a pillar of opposition to such powers. In a society where divisions along lines of class, race and wealth seem ever widening- Border Crossing continue to rally for unity. The l.p. represents modern Britain, with it's diverse cultures that live in harmony whilst maintaining their unique heritage and qualities.
The album features guest vocal performances from Ricky Ranking, Jehst, Alex Watson, Vicky Virtue, Mr Phil, Drummie Zeb (Aswad), Rakin (formerly Trim of the Cash Crew), Fat Jon (Five Deez) and Lethal. Dj Thor also features as the guest djay on the laid back reggae slanted dj track...'Border Crossing'. The single 'Militant Style' featuring Vicky Virtue is released on 22nd October on vinyl format and download. The 12" includes 2 remixes and the original. On the flip side two tracks from the l.p. reveal the range in texture of the project. Jehst rides a beat reminiscent of Al Naafyish 'The Soul', Electro/Hip Hop, early 80's style. Alex Watson and Lethal bless the mellowest of cuts on B2 'Flying High'.
The group's journey since the release of the first l.p. 'Ominous' represents a triumph through adversity. The trio became a duo due to inner turmoil that was beyond repair and the previous label, RGR, went into liquidation. Nonetheless the mission has survived. Alex Angol (Aj) and Seorais continue to raise questions in their music and offer a fresh perspective to areas of music that occasionally feel formulaic and restricted. The journey so far has been helped by all the loyal supporters and associates in particular 'The Lookout' and Coz. 'Freedom of Speech' produced by Danny Briottet and Border Crossing will reach the people soon in the Soundsystem stlye format and in deejay sets.
