bio: The pioneers are back! New Flesh have always been more than a step in front of the oppostion, but with 填niversally Dirty,・their third album, they are more timely than ahead of their time. With producer Part 2 mixing up a potent brewing pot of hip hop, dancehall, soca, grime, house and funk, this is an album which perfectly sums up Black British music ・original, vital, infectious and outward-looking. Add to this musical backdrop the contributions of two of the UK痴 finest MCs in Juice Aleem and Toastie Tailor and you have a very special record, the finest of the trio痴 career.
From the opening bars of 釘ackyard,・you know 填niversally Dirty・is going to be something a little special, the beat a tight dancehall rhythm, Juice Aleem痴 lyrical cleverness offset by the raw drive of Toastie Tailor痴. And from here, things just get better and better. Lead single 展herever We Go・combines an epic chorus with acoustic guitar, strings and a squelching b-line to show that New Flesh can do catchy whenever they like. Over a speeded up hyper-grime, 滴owz Dat?・allows Juice to set his tongue skipping and show that there isn稚 an MC in the country who can out-technique him. Toastie, on the other hand, uses his solo track 滴ome Movie・to suggest a little naughtiness with a video camera, a perfect summary of the yin and yang which makes these two vocalists so complementary.
展ho痴 The Daddy・is a pointed reminder to whoever will listen, that much of what is now considered normal in 釘ritish Urban・music was pioneered by this trio and 鄭rms House・shows that they can bring the lyrical assault and battery with the best of them. 泥on稚 Look Now・joins the dots between grime, old skool and electro in the kind of effortless way (and with the unfeasibly big bass sound) that only New Flesh can do. 溺oney Movers・plays games with the stock market and the strip club.
